Doctor Who - lett PDF Print E-mail

Thanks to all of you for your many many emails regarding the availability of the next Doctor Who!  The role of the 11th doctor would certainly be a life-long dream come true for me - but I already know that! (as most of you do too... since I tell everyone I meet for more than one second!)  If you want to see me in the Tardis - Don't tell me, tell the BBC!  Okay, you can tell me too as it makes me feel all warm fuzzy and time lordy!  Feel free to make a fuss!  I'm not going to stop you!  Post on forums, Blog on Blogs - The Squirrels can tell you how on the dGeek forum - they're old pros at this sort of thing ;-)

Lots of love and thanks for all the support - you are the best!

D!

Heya David! Good to hear from you!! Twitter just doesn't cut it ... lol. Although it's nice having the mini updates every few days. that was cool.

I have to be honest with you, I was never into Dr. Who. It was a bit before my time, and frankly, being in Canada, it's not really on the airwaves. Or ... Digital waves ... Whatever. lol. BUT! If you get the part, it will be the ultimate excuse to actually watch it!! I'll do what I can to help you out!

Hi, I am English and a doctor fan and I have no problem with any accent as long as the doctor is acted well. Go for it David but please do not do an Amanda tapping awful upper class accent. Honestly that just sounds so bad to us brits. Be witty and cute, be McKay in his braver moments and you got it. Angie A

I'm confident you can pull off the accent
written by Janice Safran, November 15, 2008
After spending so much time in Britain with family, and with beautifully-accented Jane to guide you, you'll be able to slip into a perfect accent in no time: Pierce Brosnan and David Tennant himself had to put on the accent, after all, as they naturally speak with a rolling Scottish brogue.

They couldn't pick a better Dr. Who. You could even bring along your own Dalek, after all.

You betcha...we'll email for you

Hi David and Jane,
Below is the email I just sent the producers of the Dr. Who series. I hope our campaign at least gets you an addition.

To Executive Producers of the Dr. Who Series:

I would like to suggest that actor David Hewlett be considered as the new Dr. Who. The choice would bring a few million new fans from Stargate Atlantis to the series of Dr. Who! Mr. Hewlett is an amazingly talented actor and I for one can see him as a great new Dr. Who.

Cheers

So that's the job you were telling me about in Melbourne that you wanted us squirrels to do for you! Well consider it done! Although the Christmas Special as David Morrisey as the "next doctor"... Although on the up side.. his first name is David just like you.. it could be a sign... I have though seen you do a terrible English accent in The Campbells - Live by the sword.... so hmm....

Also I wanted to thank you for coming down to Australia. I hope we've treated you well and you come back again soon! - And I hope you like the calendar I gave you (and feel free to pimp that too if you want .. it's available on our website! - well.. it was worth a try hey smilies/tongue.gif )

Hewlett as 11th?
written by Michelle L Burge, November 17, 2008
That would be bloody fantastic!! If John Barrowman can do his Scottish accent and go back to an American accent, I have no doubt that you could do an English accent! It would be difficult to follow David Tennant (Gorgeous man that he is!), but I know you could do it! You have the ability to be manic, and brilliant! (We already know that you're brill!) We must flood the BBC with the idea! Hmmm....what would you wear for clothes? Black leather or bright colors. Hmmm...decisions, decisions! Oh, please follow deltatwo on twitter! I'm 49 and they still scare the bejesus out of me. Still can't listen to the theme music without getting spooked. I did watch the movie with Paul McCann, but only cos I was told there were no daleks - and covered my ears until the music finished!!!

Hmmmm. Somehow I doubt that David would be chosen to be the net Dr. Who. No offense intended. Because I doubt they would chose someone that is not well, you know, Obviously British. I 'got into' Doctor Who this year, while there was a big Stargate: Atlantis gap :-D. There's lots of re-runs of the previous series so caught up with all four. When I heard David Tenant wasn't going to do the next series I though of David Hewlett straight away...but I'd also love to see Rodney in Doctor Who debating with the doctor on all the techie things...etc...and reacting to the other characters.

I'm very sad to see Stargate: Atlantis go...It seems very popular here, in Britain!!

I've never seed Dr. Who, but if you were on it, I'd watch. You could do a British accent, I'm sure. I mean, you were born there and wasn't that your mom speaking with a lovely accent on "ADB" commentary? Speaking of watching things, I totally loved "Brain Storm"! Such a good episode! You've given so many great performances as Rodney McKay, and I'm really sad that it's coming to an end. Especially since Rodney finally got his girl! You rock, David! Can I be a squirrel?

As a big fan of Doctor Who, I was really sad to find out that David Tennant will be leaving after next year. I knew it'd happen eventually but as he's my favourite Doctor of all time, I just couldn't see anyone else being able to replace him. However I think that you are the ONLY person who could take on the role after his departure that I'd accept. I'm more than sure that it's a role who would really make your own. Go for it David! smilies/grin.gif

Bah. British people are so possessive of their British things. It'll probably be like Harry Potter, where they wouldn't allow anyone who's not British to be cast, no matter how awesome a non-Brit might be. But they would win major points if they did cast you.
